Palmas is developed by Dolce Sfogato (David Smith). It is a flamenco metronome: it plays rhythms, and that is all it does. This policy explains how Palmas handles your information — in the browser, and in the desktop and mobile applications built from the same code. None of them collect any personal data.
Palmas does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. It has no servers, no user accounts, and no analytics or tracking of any kind. Your settings stay on your own device. The app makes exactly one request to anyone else — a Wikipedia article lookup, and only when you ask for it — described under Network use below.
Palmas does not use your microphone. It plays sound; it never listens, records, or asks for microphone permission. On a phone or tablet you should never see a microphone prompt from this app — if you do, something is wrong and we would like to hear about it.
Palmas remembers how you like to practise, using your browser's or device's ordinary local storage:
All of this stays on your device. It is never sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent. Clearing your browser's site data, or deleting the app, removes it. We have no copy and no way to recover it.
Palmas loads its own files — the page, the code, and the audio samples — from dolcesfogato.com when you use the browser version, exactly as any web page does. Standard web-server logs apply to serving those files, and are governed by the dolcesfogato.com website rather than by the app. The desktop and mobile applications carry those files with them and load nothing.
Beyond that, Palmas makes one request to a third party. When you open the help for a palo, it asks Wikipedia for that article's summary, so it can show you an introduction in your own language. That request goes to Wikimedia's servers, which will see your IP address and which article was asked for; it is handled under the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy, not ours. It carries no identifier of you and nothing about your practice, and it happens only when you open that dialog — if you never open the pattern help, the request is never made.
There are no other outbound requests. The app checks for no updates, reports no crashes, and loads no fonts, scripts, or images from anyone else — a Content Security Policy shipped with the app enforces this.
Palmas does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to the developer or to third parties. Specifically, the app:
